Candler Park is a neighborhood and park located in the North Atlanta area of the city, with a very short section just south of Ponce De Leon Avenue in East Atlanta. It is the oldest park in Metro Atlanta and the largest park within the city limits, encompassing at over 400 acres. The neighborhood has several historic homes from the Victorian era and significant historical commercial real estate that was built prior to World War II. Since its construction in 1926, Candler Park has been a cultural center for the community of Decatur, Georgia. This Atlanta park is filled with festivals, concerts and fairs for all ages, including The Candler Park Festival, which is held annually every May. Located just south of Downtown Atlanta, Candler Park also offers hiking trails, a skate park, tennis courts and other outdoor activities. Candler Park is one of Atlanta's most popular parks. It is located in the shadow of Ponce City Market and includes a playground, tennis courts, and six soccer fields. The neighborhood also has many other things to do as well like go to the Botanical Gardens, Edgewood Avenue's shops and restaurants, or take a stroll through historic Inman Park.
