GMMA Emory

Description

The mission of Global Medical Missions Alliance (GMMA) shall be to provide networking opportunities for Emory University students with aspirations or interests in providing professional care and assistance (i.e. medical, financial, legal) in urban communities, local and abroad. The organization shall do so by connecting the students with medical missionaries, practicing health professionals, and health professional students (in-person and virtually) through a variety of events and gatherings. a. These gatherings include: i) Workshops held during GBM meetings ii) GMMA regional conferences iii) Volunteer service opportunities b. Students will also have the opportunity to participate in an international outreach service trip led by practicing medical professionals and missionaries. i) The trip will take place in the summer, outside of the academic year. ii) The trip will provide students with a first-hand perspective of the lifestyle of medical missionaries iii) Students participating in the trip will be allowed to assist the professionals with basic triaging of the patients.
